Vint Cerf is afraid of IoT because it is run by software, and software has bugs. Moreover, IoT things are connected, and this create new levels of exposure.

However, the article's author highlights that things were run by software even before the IoT advent. "Most whatever you can possible imagine that uses electricity is already run by software and this is nothing new or unique to IoT matters". Indeed, embedded software networked via the IoT might be even safer than non-networked software, because it can be updated much more frequently.
